Activities & Celebrations at Apex International School
Every year on 14th September, Apex International Public Senior Secondary School comes alive with the melody of poetry, the power of oratory and the beauty of Hindi literature. Hindi Diwas is not merely a date on our school calendar — it is a heartfelt celebration of the language that binds a billion hearts and carries within its syllables the soul of India's rich civilisation.
Under the inspiring leadership of Principal Ms. Shallu Gupta, our Hindi Diwas celebration has grown into one of the most anticipated events of the academic year. Students from all classes participate enthusiastically in a bouquet of activities that make them proud speakers, confident writers and sensitive lovers of Hindi — India's national language and the official language of the Union of India.
Hindi Diwas at Apex International School is a multi-event extravaganza. The day begins with an assembly dedicated to the history and significance of Hindi, followed by a series of competitions and performances that unfold across classes and stages. Students recite poems by legendary Hindi poets — Kabir, Mirabai, Maithili Sharan Gupt and modern voices — bringing audiences to pin-drop silence with the power of language and emotion.
Principal Ms. Shallu Gupta addresses students with characteristic warmth, reminding them that Hindi is not merely a subject to be studied for examinations — it is a living, breathing language that carries the dreams, sorrows, celebrations and wisdom of generations. She encourages students to converse in Hindi confidently and to read Hindi literature beyond the textbook. Her vision is clear: a student who knows their own language deeply is better equipped to understand every other language and culture.
The day also features essay writing, shloka recitation, nukkad natak (street play) and a special Hindi calligraphy competition that fills display boards with beautifully crafted letters and verses. Teachers specially curate content that connects Hindi to daily life, making the language feel alive and relevant. Senior students present short skits dramatising stories from Hindi literature, bringing characters from classic novels and plays to life before an enchanted audience of younger students.
Beyond competition, the day fosters a deep sense of cultural pride. Students learn about the Constituent Assembly's decision on 14th September 1949, understand the role of Hindi as a unifying force in a diverse nation, and appreciate how the language continues to evolve, embrace new words and thrive in the digital age. As the day closes, the entire school sings together — an unforgettable reminder that language is the most beautiful gift a civilisation can give its children.
